About Peter Ponzol

Before you buy your next mouthpiece, ask this question. Is the maker a player and is every mouthpiece play tested? I also use CNC machines in my production, but don't  let anyone tell you that the mouthpieces come off the machine ready to play. It's just not true! I play test every mouthpiece and make the final adjustments by hand to insure that each mouthpiece plays as intended. Who should find the mouthpieces that aren't quite ready, the maker or you?

All Ponzol mouthpieces are designed, finished and tested by Peter Ponzol.  Every mouthpiece comes with a Rovner ligature and cap.

THE CUSTOM MOUTHPIECES ARE BACK!

The Custom mouthpieces were discontinued a few years ago because the material was no longer available in the size I needed. For those of you not familiar with the Custom, it was my M2 model for Tenor and Baritone in hard rubber. I have now found the best material for these mouthpieces in a special high tech plastic called Delrin. This material is approved for food use by the FDA, that's how safe it is. Don't confuse this with cheap plastic mouthpieces. This material costs as much as stainless steel. The Tenor model is now available and the Baritone will be available soon.

The new stainless steel soprano mouthpiece is now available in the 65 opening. A photo will be up soon. Suffice it to say that it looks just like a smaller version of the alto mouthpiece. Powerful and warm.

The new stainless steel baritone is now available in the 110 plus opening. A photo will be up soon. Suffice it to say that it looks just like a larger version of the tenor.  A new design with a chamber between the old M1 and M2  models. Full robust sound with warmth and power.

Stainless Steel Alto Mouthpiece

NEW: Stainless Steel alto mouthpiece in 85 opening. This is the best metal alto mouthpiece I have ever played! This chamber combines the best of the old M1 and M2, with a darker warmer sound.

M2 tenor model in Stainless Steel NEW: M2 tenor model in Stainless Steel available now in 105 and 110 opening. The new M2 110 is also available in gold anodized aluminum. This new M2 is warmer and darker sounding with a stronger fundamental than my older brass models.
Vintage Model

New Vintage Model: The new Vintage tenor model replaces both the II-V-I and the ML. Available now in 105 opening in stainless steel and gold anodized aluminum. This is the best sounding and playing vintage mouthpiece I have ever made.

New! M2 Plus metal tenor mouthpiece: The Stainless Steel M2 Plus is the brightest of my mouthpieces. However in Stainless Steel it has the projection of the old model but is darker and warmer with a great balance between the overtones and fundamental. In 105 and 110 openings.

NEW:  Hard Rubber Vintage Series:  Why search Ebay and pay hundreds of dollars for an old Meyer alto or old Link tenor mouthpiece in poor condition. I have used the facing and dimensions from a NY Meyer and a 60's Link for this new Vintage series. As close as you will get to having a new old Meyer or Link.

Soprano: 65 - 70 - 75
Tenor:  100 - 105 - 110       Alto: 70 - 75 - 85

NEW: Ponzol Vintage hard rubber C* for Alto: This mouthpiece has the facing of the old classic Selmer C*.

It's very difficult to put into words what a mouthpiece sounds and plays like. The only way to know what works for you is to try it. The M2 Plus is the brightest of my mouthpieces, and the Vintage the darkest. Yet I've had players tell me that they found the M2 dark and the other models bright. Since these are very subjective terms please don't be afraid to try different models.
